Fordite, also known as Detroit agate, was a man-made gemstone from the mid-20th century. It comes from layers of automotive paint accumulated on the floors of car factories. Once the paint hardened, the paint was chiseled up and artisans turned it into jewelry. We will be making our version of Fordite using layers of colored paper that will be sanded and sealed with resin. Kevin will do the heavy sanding and apply the resin. You can make them in any color or shape you want. It’s fun and creative as well as beautiful!
